Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Bzan (bzan.chat and the Bzan app for iPhone and Android) collects when you use it, why, who else processes it, and the choices you have. By using Bzan, you agree to it. Using Bzan is also covered by our Terms of Use.

What we collect

Only what Bzan needs to work and to get better:

  • Your account: your name, email address and profile picture from Google or Apple when you sign in, and the name and picture you change them to.
  • What you make: your chats and their answers, the files and photos you attach, slides, docs, projects, the audio you record or upload with its transcripts, and the memories the assistant saves about you.
  • Usage, credits and payments: what each request cost in credits, the credits you were given, the plans you bought, and how and when you paid.
  • Devices and sign-ins: your signed-in sessions (IP address, device and browser), an ID for each device you use, and the app's notification token.
  • How you use Bzan: the pages and app screens you open, what you click or tap (never the words on it or what you type), when the app opens and closes, your device, browser and app version, and your IP address with the rough location it shows (country and city). It's tied to your account by an ID, not by your name or email.
  • Error reports: when something breaks, what went wrong and on which device or browser.
  • Preferences: your language, theme and settings.
  • Feedback: the messages and screenshots you send us, where you sent them from (the website or the app, its version and the page), our replies, and your answers to our survey (how you found Bzan and what you use it for).

How we use it

  • To run Bzan: answer your messages, keep your history, and make and change your slides, docs and transcripts.
  • To count your credits, take your payments and show your usage.
  • To keep Bzan fair: device IDs show us when one person makes many accounts for free credits. We keep them only as one-way codes that can't be turned back into the IDs.
  • To keep Bzan safe for students: requests and pictures are checked against our content rules (see below).
  • To send the notifications you allow, such as credits added or running low, a plan about to end and our replies to your feedback, and an email when someone signs in to your account.
  • To answer you when you contact us or send feedback, and to make Bzan better from what you and the survey tell us.
  • To learn how Bzan is used, such as how many people use it, which features they use and where they get stuck, so we can make it better.
  • To find and fix errors.

We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use your chats or files to train AI models.

Safety checks and reports

Bzan is a study tool, and it never makes or shows sexual or immodest content (the content rules in our Terms of Use). To hold to that:

  • Checks: every request for a picture, with the photos it changes, every picture Bzan makes, and every stock photo search and the photos it finds are checked by an AI model before you see them. A picture or photo that breaks the rules isn't shown.
  • Reports: when someone tries to get content against the rules, Bzan records it and sends a report to our admins: your name, email address and account details, what you wrote, the picture request, the pictures you sent with it, and your earlier reports.
  • What happens next: an admin reads the report and may do nothing, warn you by email and notification, or close your account.

Respectful questions about health, biology or religion are answered and never reported.

Feedback

When you send feedback, our admins get it in a private messaging service: your name, email address and account ID, what you wrote, the screenshot, and where you sent it from. Our reply comes to you by email and as a notification. When you report something the AI made, they get it the same way, with what it said or the pictures it made. Don't put passwords or other private details in feedback.

Feedback that insults, threatens or harasses anyone, is sexual, or is spam breaks our Terms of Use, and an admin may close your account for it.

Who processes it

To do its work, Bzan sends parts of your data to these services, each only what it needs:

  • AI models: your messages, files and the chat's context go through an AI service to the model you pick, and to web search when you turn it on. Parts of them also go to the models that check pictures, name chats and write summaries. Each model's maker handles them under its own terms.
  • Speech: audio for dictation and transcription goes to a speech-to-text service.
  • Sign-in: Google or Apple, when you sign in with them.
  • Email: an email service sends our emails.
  • Notifications: a notification service, Apple and Google deliver the app's notifications.
  • Payments: on the website, a payment service takes your card or wallet payment and tells us whether it was paid. When you pay over WhatsApp, the messages go through WhatsApp.
  • Stock photos: the words you search for photos in slides and docs go to the photo libraries.
  • Error reports: an error-tracking service gets the reports of what broke.
  • Usage analytics: an analytics service gets how you use Bzan (see above), tied to your account's ID, not your name or email.
  • Messages to our admins: a private messaging service delivers safety reports, feedback and payment notices to our admins.

Chats, slides and docs you share can be seen by anyone with their link, until you turn the link off. We also share data when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open, so your history is there when you come back. You can delete chats, files, slides, docs, transcriptions and memories at any time. Safety reports stay even after the chat they came from is deleted, and feedback stays while your account is open. You can delete your account yourself, on the website or in the app: 30 days later we delete what's in it. We keep only the records the law requires, like payments, and the few that stop abuse or that we learn from, like survey answers, without your name or email.

Cookies

The website uses only the cookies it needs: one keeps you signed in, and others remember your language, theme and device. Usage analytics keep a random ID in your browser's storage, not in a cookie. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Security

Your data travels encrypted, and your files open only through short-lived private links unless you share them. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Children

Bzan is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. For an important change, we tell you in Bzan or by email first.
